The father of a baby boy who died after being bitten by the family husky at their Airdrie, Alta., home is calling the incident “a horrible accident.” No charges are being considered against the parents who own several huskies and run a home-based dog sledding equipment and supplies business. The boy was with a parent at the time and there had been no previous history of violence with the dog and no past issues between the dog and the couple’s older song. The husky is being quarantines at a Calgary facility for a 10-day period. Airdrie bylaw officials will work with the dog owners and conduct an investigation to determine the dog’s fate. Animal behaviour experts say these type of dog-and-baby interactions only occur once or twice a year in Canada.
